OLD BUSINESS:
Conference T-shirt Policy: Brian Laughlin from PST Express was present to report conference tournament T-shirt sales. Order forms had been faxed to each school with request to pass on to coaches. Seven of the ten schools placed orders. These orders were delivered to the coaches at the tournaments. Additional orders were taken for air brushed shirts individualized for each school. Orders were shipped back to the schools in a week. The company donated $2.00 per shirt sold back to the conference. Brian Laughlin stated that if all sports were included and all schools participated the donation could be around $1,000. A check for $220 was presented at the meeting for sales at the girls' basketball tournaments. In the future the order forms will be faxed to the attention of the Athletic Directors at each school to ensure delivery of the forms to the coaches. Brian L. left the meeting and discussion took place regarding the company and the T-shirts. It was decided to continue with PST for another year without a formal policy for selling T-shirts at conference tournament events.
NEW BUSINESS:
Basketball Tournament Format:
Tom Morse passed out a proposal from Sally Enrietto (LeRoy Junior High girls' basketball coach ) to change the format/schedule of the 7th and 8th grade SVC basketball tournaments. During discussion concerns were raised about the conflicts the new proposal would have with the boys' SVC basketball tournament, volleyball, and the high school McLean County Basketball Tournament. No action was taken.
Sportsmanship (Fan Behavior):
Sportsmanship and policy regarding consequences for poor sportsmanship by fans was discussed. IESA has policy regarding players and coaches, but not fans. Everyone agreed that we should be proactive and inform member schools of potential problems that could occur. Cathy Weber (RV) and Brian Knutson (TV) discussed the HOIC (Heart of Illinois Conference- High School) sportsmanship DVD and posters and suggested following the same procedure. Cathy Weber will check with the HOIC to see if we would be allowed to use these materials and will bring information for ordering to the next meeting (May 2008) with the idea for each school to implement them in the 2008-2009 school year.
